ABOUT MARK
A ROCK STAR WHO LOVES TO TEACH.
Mark has toured nationally and internationally with his band, The Native Howl, for over a decade, playing everything from small clubs to theaters to major music festivals. He earned his Bachelor of Music from Oakland University in 2013, started the Bedside Music Program at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, and spent nine years teaching at the Clarkston Conservatory of Music.
He loves teaching music theory and instrument technique to people of all ages, and brings wisdom and positive reinforcement to every hopeful musician he works with.

It's hard to express the impact Mark has had on my son, and our whole family. An absolute fantastic teacher that has all the skills as a teacher mastered: patience, regaining focus (tough with an autistic/ADHD son!), motivation, backed by fantastic communication skills to teach technique, theory, and most importantly purpose. Watching him weave broad genres of music, and incredible depth to curate the lessons helps create understanding and connection I think few could be able to do with my son.
It doesn't hurt that he's a total rock star. He backs up all this training live on stage and on tour, which has created numerous highlights for my son and our whole family. Not sure how many teachers get to watch their students come in with their band's T-shirt, but it's gotta be pretty cool.
